The last bus stop a travel site like you have never seen before

A foot note to a bus ride from Manchester to Huddersfield Service 184

I was out collecting material for the last bus stop on 7th June 2013 and by chance used the 17.20 184 service from Manchester to Huddersfield. As far as Standedge Summit on the A62 the journey was perfectly normal.
Then just as we appoached the Carriage House Public House just below the summit on the Marsden side a police car was blocking the road. The driver stopped and spoke to a policewoman and then pulled into the Carriage House car park and we were told there had been a serious accident between here and Marsden and the road was blocked. Therefore no one knew what was happening and the only reliable way on was to where we could catch another bus. So a stream of bus passengers started to walk down the A62.
So here is some unusual shots. I understand there were some deaths so there are are no pictures of the accident as this would show disrespect. As I appoached the accident scene there was the 184 that had left Manchester at 16.20 and could not get past. I was told it got here just after the accident had happened. The scene itself was horrific but thankfuly the worst was over when I walked past the police just asked us to walk round on a steep grass bank to avoid the wreckage. All credit to the emergency services. The 16.20 184 was far to close to the scene to take any pictures of it

From here Another bus can be caught to Huddersfield. It took me about 35 to 40 minutes to walk from the Carriage House to Marsden

Back on a bus heading towards Huddersfield

Back on a bus heading out of Marsden towards Huddersfield. This was a 185 a local Marsden to Huddersfield bus. When or if the 2 buses from Manchester would make it is anyones guess. I am left with one sobering thought as I travel towards Huddersfield a reminder that all travel has risks attached to it
