We depart from Manchester Piccadilly off platform 14 as far as Deansgate we follow the same route as

Between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Rd we are on a high embankment traveling through Manchester city centre.
As a point of interest in this journey I am traveling backwards
Arrived at Manchester Oxford Rd..Please note Manchester Oxford Rd is where the Northern Rail stopping trains using this route to Liverpool start and finish they do not go into Manchester Piccadilly.
We have just crossed Manchester's Oxford Road before entering the station the bridge we used is passed under on my

Some people certainly get a good view of the trains

Passing Cornbrook metro link tram station
Heading away from Manchester towards old Trafford
We are still running parallel to the tram tracks as we head towards Old Trafford. We are also running alongside the Bridgewater Canal
We pass the Pomona Metro link station
We then pass Manchester United's Old Trafford football ground that has its own station. It is only used on match days when Northern Rail run a shuttle service there. There are proposals to close the station and open a new one nearby at White City where there would be a regular service
