Yorkshire Coastliner Transdev

A bus ride on Yorkshire Coastliner from Malton to Scarborough

When the 843 leaves Malton the normal route is along the old A64 through Norton to rejoin the new A64 at the eastern end of the Malton bypass but due to major road works at the eastern end of the. bypass when I made this journey in September 2012 busses were been divereted north along the Pickering road to join the bypass A64 where it crosses the Pickering road.
Please note as far as Staxton roundabout the Scarborough and Bridlington busses follow the same route using the A64.

Back on the A64 passing Scagglethorpe just after the Malton bypass

pig farming.

One of the more unusual sights you will see off Coastliner on this section of the route is the free range pig farming where the pigs seem to live in family groups have thier own little shelter and patch of land the only thing missing seems to be the 4x4.
While the pigs have a much better life which is good it seems even harsher when the inevitable happens but I am sure most people will have thier own opinions on this.

Approaching Staxton roundabout.

It is at this point where the Bridlington bus turns right and heads towards Filey and the Scarborough bus turns left continuing along the A64.

The bus passes Scarborough railway station turns left and carries on a short distance to its terminus at Peasholme Park. My advice is to alight at the railway station spend your time in the town centre and on the sea front and then walk or catch an open top bus round marine drive to the north bay which is only a very short walk from Coastliner terminus at Peasholme Park. This is a great place to start your return journey to Leeds as the bus can really fill up at the railway station.

The bus seen in this picture is waiting to come round to the bus stop to take the 17,16 service to Leeds on the 24th August 2012.
Hard to believe this innocent looking bus stop is the start of a 70 mile long bus route.
